Robert Rocheleau, BArch MAIBC, LEED AP

Director of Praxis Architects, Inc., Robert Rocheleau has practiced architecture for more than 25 years: designing, teaching, building envelope consultation, construction evaluations plus contract administration.

A graduate of Carleton University (Ontario Association of Architects Award, 1973-74), he joined the prestigious firm of Moriyama & Teshima Architects in 1981 as a project architect, where design work included major projects in Chicago, New Orleans, Toronto and Ottawa.

His past work included architectural services (design and building science) for Markham Public Libraries and facilities analysis of 350 Ontario Hydro buildings for energy conservation. A LEED Accredited Professional, he is committed to green building practices and the use of eco-responsive materials.

After his 1994 arrival in Victoria, Bob was in private practice as a sole proprietor, project architect with Eric Barker Architect, and joined Michael Levin to form PRAXIS in June, 2001.

His design work is distinctive. Bob designed the new PRAXIS strata office building at 1245 Esquimalt and the conversion of an existing industrial building to a multi-unit residential project – Fusion. Recent projects include the Sooke Marina and Resort and the design proposal for a new Victoria bus terminal.

“With respect to urban context as an architect, I work to add currency to existing streetscapes in terms of architectural vocabulary. At PRAXIS, we provide architectural design and professional management services to clients, striving to leave communities with buildings that will serve them well. The challenge is to mesh ideals with the realities of budget and function.”
